the product title is misleading, as the filter has nothing to do with improving contrast.on the whole, the filter makes very little difference to the display and is really only for protection. finally, 3M stamped their logo to the bottom of the filter (a bit of a nuisance) although it's cleverly removed in the product photo (still available, as of this writing, at staples' website).

In building construction, balloon framing refers to a technique of constructing the exterior walls of houses and other relatively small structures. Balloon framing has largely been replaced by platform framing, and both are examples of light-frame construction.The first balloon frame is attributed to the American settler Augustine Taylor, for the 1833 St. Mary's Church at the corner of Lake and State Streets, at Fort Dearborn, Illinois (now downtown Chicago). This was an innovation away from carpentered brace frame construction, which was a legacy of medieval construction practice, and which required labor-intensive mortise and tenon joinery. "Balloon frame" was a derisive name, which stuck. The church was thought by Taylor's contemporaries to be flimsy and fragile. In fact, this was false, and the technique of balloon framing quickly spread throughout the United States and overseas. New sawmill technology allowed the creation of the standardized 2 by 4|two-by-four. T! hat, with the availability of mass-produced nails, made balloon frame construction the cheaper and quicker alternative to the brace frame, and the preferred way of building. A balloon frame uses long vertical two-by-four members (2 x 4 inch timber lengths) that span multiple floors. In platform framing, which replaced balloon framing as the construction standard a few years later, the vertical members only rise for one story.

Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, often simply referred to as ''arthrogryposis'' (International Phonetic Alphabet|IPA pronunciation: ), is a rare disease of the musculoskeletal system. Affecting approximately 1 in 3000 births, the disease is marked by limited range of motion in one or more major joints in the human body. In the most severe cases, almost every joint in the body is affected; more typically, only a subset of joints are affected (e.g. those in the arms, or those in the hips and legs).Arthrogryposis is typically congenital, non-hereditary, with no known specific cause. While there is no cure, treatment options include splinting of affected joints, physical therapy to improve flexion and range of motion, and surgery to help reposition severely affected joints and limbs. Those not severely afflicted typically live relatively normal lives, adapting to specific situations as required by the patient's particular symptoms.

Northern pollen sources for honeybeesThe term pollen source is often used in the context of beekeeping. The term pollen source may also be used in the pollination of flowering plants. Most flowering plants either self-pollination|self pollinate or are dependent on cross pollination from a pollen source through the activity of pollinators. One of the possible pollinators to assist in cross-pollination are honeybees. Bees collect pollen as a protein source to raise their brood. The article below is mainly about the pollen source from a beekeeping perspective.The pollen source in a given area depends on the type of vegetation present and the length of their bloom period. What type of vegetation will grow in an area depends on soil texture, soil pH, soil drainage, daily maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation, extreme minimum winter temperature, and growing degree days. The plants listed below are plants that would grow in USDA Hardiness zone 5. A good predictor for when a plant will bloom and produce pollen is a calculation of the growing degree days. The color of pollen below indicates the color as it appears when the pollen arrives at the beehive. Bees mix dry pollen with nectar and/or honey to compact the pollen in the pollen basket. Dry pollen, is a food source for bees, which contains 16 - 30% protein, 1 - 10% fat, 1 - 7% starch, many vitamins, but little sugar. The protein source needed for rearing one worker bee from larval to adult stage requires approximately 120 to 145 mg of pollen. In an insurance policy, the deductible or excess is the portion of any claim that is not covered by the insurance provider. It is normally quoted as a fixed amount and is a part of most policies covering losses to the policy holder. The deductible must be "met", that is, paid by the insured, before the benefits of the policy can apply.In a typical automobile insurance policy, a deductible will apply to claims arising from damage to or loss of the policy holder's own vehicle, whether this damage/loss is caused by car accident|accidents for which the holder is responsible, vandalism or theft. Third-party liability coverage generally has no deductible, since the third party will likely attempt to recover any loss, however small, for which the policy holder is liable.Most health insurance policies and some travel insurance policies have deductibles as well. Typically, a general rule is: the higher the deductible, the lower the premium, and vice versa.

Ana Vidovic, in this recording, comes across as a "phenom." Exceptional technique but a guitarist who has some growing and maturing to do. Put differently, her technique exceeds her emotional grasp of the music. About two years ago we were fortunate to hear Ana perform live at a Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society concert. She has grown tremendously. She still has a world class technique, but her playing, her grasp of the music was simply wonderful, one of the best classical guitar recitals I have heard in years. The Society's reviewer wrote of the concert: "Come back Ana, soon and often!" Hopefully the CD reviewed here will be the first of many. Few guitarists of any age play as Ana does in this disc. She is capable of much more, and deserves the widest possible audience.
